PGA Professional-Junior Clinic

On Wednesday June 23, 2010 Lyman Orchards Golf Club welcomed PGA Professional John Bierkan to teach a free 30 minute clinic for junior golfers. Earlier this month Lyman Orchards Golf Club received news from the CT Section PGA Golf Foundation and Travelers Championship that they were one of ten local courses selected to host a Pro-Junior golf clinic sponsored by the Foundation. The course was pleased to find out that the professional assigned to their course was none other than former employee John Bierkan.

Approximately 75 juniors and their parents joined John on the driving range as he explained the meaning of “PGA”—Posture, Grip, and Alignment. John invited the juniors on the tee with him as he demonstrated how to properly align your body before taking a swing. John had all the juniors grab a golf club so he could teach them what he called “a seven minute golf swing”. John, along with Head Professional Jason Beffert and assistant golf professional Dan Valk, then spent time assisting the junior golfers with their swings.

At the end of the clinic John signed autographs and took photos with the junior golfers and the juniors were treated to complimentary range balls to practice their new seven minute swing on the range!
